In his entire twenty-four years, Kyle had never been so alone. Titans was in limbo and he had recently cut ties with his twin sister, Kimi. There was nothing worse for a twin. He was running low on friends, too. The girls in S&V had his back, but he felt like he had failed them when he couldn't convince Alex to not listen to Jennifer Drew and let Queen Cthulhu take over. However, on top of all of that, Shelley Silver had stopped taking texts and calls from not only the girls in S&V, but him as well. Kyle knew that Shelley's honeymoon with Ace King was long over, so she was available to at least call or text back, but she just... wasn't.
It had seemed that the world was standing still ever since Kyle opened and read the new match card. Under most circumstances, Kyle wouldn't mind a match against Alex Brody. It would be a good, clean match. They knew and trusted each other enough to know their limits and how to make it a damn good match. But this wasn't Alex that Kyle would be facing on Monday. Not exactly, anyway. Not everyone understood what was going on there, but Kyle did. There was a screw not only loose when Alex went into the depths of her emotions, but the screw shot out the window. There was no talking to her when she was like this. He had even remembered watching her father try the last time, and that worried Kyle even more.
We open to see Kyle Smalls, sitting on a bench in a locker room, getting ready to get some training in. He's staring at his phone, reading the five little words over and over again. "Queen Cthulhu versus Kyle Smalls".
That's.
Just.
Great.
Kyle sat in silence as he changed and himself ready. He stayed quiet, lost in his thoughts. He was such a mess and he didn't feel like there was any resolve in sight. Getting through this match wasn't going to be easy, but he was going to do his best to get through it. What other choice did he have?
"So you do really like her?" the silence was broken by the voice of Johnny Krule, who was also an ancillary member of Sex & Violence.
Kyle looked up with a sigh, "I guess there's no use in hiding it. Seems like a lost cause, though."
"You know," Johnny sat down next to Kyle, "Tommy and myself weren't in NFW, but that doesn't mean that we weren't watching it. We saw what that group of skanks did to Alex. She may have played it off like a storyline, but after meeting her, I'm not so sure."
"She's not well," Kyle frowned, looking down. "I just... I'm not so sure that she actually wants to be into guys despite wanting to be with me while she was recovering from Lillith."
Johnny let out a chuckle, "then you had to go and fall for her." He nodded, standing up and patting Kyle on the shoulder. "Either way, she's going to need you when this is over again. Whether it's Sam Tolson snapping her out of it at the pay-per-view, or you manage to figure something out after that." He gave a supportive smile as he walked away.
Kyle knew that the camera had been in the room and filming the entire time, but he didn't mind. He was used to it. He looked up, "so there you have it. I'm in the middle of an impossible situation. This could have been a great match. When she is just Alex, we're perfect. We're in sync. We would have put on a spectacular match. But when she's like this," he shook his head. "I'm just going to do my best to protect myself and make sure that she doesn't do anything to seriously harm herself. Because we all know that Alex is still in there. The same sweet girl that had started out her career in a mask, because she didn't want her father to know that she was competing. She's not really a monster. I know that. But I do believe that she believes that she is. And honestly? I know that is about a thousand times more dangerous than if she actually were some sort of monster."
He ran his fingers through his hair and stood up, "as some of you know, I'm an actor when I'm not in the ring, but I'm not going to be able to act my way through this. This isn't going to be some performance. Not even close. I will be legitimately doing my best to do my part to save the girl that..." he paused, shaking his head. "I will be doing my damndest to help save a beautiful, young woman, whom I care about, from herself." He finished taping up his wrists, "now if you'll excuse me, I have to go work on preparing myself for that." He walked out of the room, letting the door slam shut.
