Shelley Silver couldn't remember the last time that she had actually connected with wrestling. She still had a natural talent for it. She would absolutely dominate in the ring in one company, but when it came to the place she would rather be competing? Not so much. It felt off. Like she had been stuck in place and everyone else there had evolved and moved on. Leaving Shelley behind. So despite being Silver Mountain Champion in New Frontier, Shelley couldn't help but feel like she hadn't gotten any better in the sport. So she quit. She left New Frontier Wrestling as well as Extreme Championship Wrestling.
She had plateaued in the sport, but she knew that she could get better at the other things that she did. So Shelley spent three months in Orlando, Florida, working as a scare actor and stand-in during Universal Studios Hollywood Horror Nights. This felt right to her. She also started reading scripts for new movies to film going into the new year. If she wanted to be a modern era "Scream Queen" she couldn't take too much time away from the silver screen. There were plenty of new horror films about to go into production. Even a few franchises, but Shelley knew that going into a sequel or reboot was risky. She would give each opportunity a chance, though. If she liked the script, she would send in an audition in hopes of getting a part.
Now there was another new opportunity on the horizon. Shelley wasn't the only one who had walked away from New Frontier Wrestling, and it seemed as though everyone else did for the same reason. Which was actually quite sad. It was what it was, though. After settling in back at her large home in Burien, Washington, just ten miles north of Seattle, Shelley worked on getting the other NFW refugees and a few other friends together for a huge blowout weekend party. Music played throughout the house, fun lighting in just about every room, plenty of junk food, as well as healthy snacks were supplied, and there were a few video game tournaments played in her customized game room and streamed live on Twitch. It felt good to let loose. It was exactly what Shelley had needed.
Now the party was over. The house was cleaned up and only a few of her friends remained. How they went the whole weekend without the Smalls Twins not overhearing each other having loud sex (because they both were) or at the very least catching one another in what would become an awkward situation, no one really knew. Shelley was alone in her house for a bit and she had some things to say. She went to her office and turned on her camera, taking a deep breath before diving into what was on her mind.
"I'm just going to start by being upfront," Shelley looked directly into the camera. "I've never really been one to separate kayfabe from real life. I'm not about to start now, either. I know that I haven't made a clear, public statement concerning my decision to quit professional wrestling. I just needed some time to calm down and get the words straight in my mind." She knew that not many appreciated the lack of an emotional outburst, but the few that did would understand.
"I've considered this before, and honestly... I think that there is actually a good chance that I'm not meant to be a professional wrestler," she shrugged. "I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm damn good at it, but... only to a point where it's simple. Cut and dry. Not exactly fulfilling. It hasn't even been fun for me in quite a while. While I was over in New Frontier, I didn't know who I was facing, let alone when, for most of the first year that I was there. I still can't tell you who I've faced there. Just that... I won every goddamn match. Well, except for when I faced Adrianna Salvatore for the Women's Championship which..." she let out a small chortle, "I didn't want to win. I've never held a Women's title and I never will."
She held up her index finger after a brief pause, "I know better than to not point out the fact that I didn't hold back when I faced Adri. If I had won, I had fully intended on just... I don't know... not accepting the title?" She laughed, shaking her head. "I honestly don't know. I didn't actually plan that far. Like I'd go up to Savannah Hayes and just shove the belt in her face." She shrugged with a laugh, "guess we'll never know."
Shelley then let out a heavy sigh, "that's always been a thing for me. Ever since I ventured into professional wrestling, I hit that roadblock in my career." She tapped her fingers on the desk in a drumming motion. "When I first learned how to fight, it was in a genderblind setting. In martial arts, size doesn't really matter as much. It was more about the level in which you were performing. Everyone always fights far, but if they don't, they are penalized for it. I don't feel that it is something that translates well into professional wrestling. It's more plausible that a girl can be a slasher movie villain or do her own stunts, which..." she smirked, shrugging playfully, "I've done both... rather than being a world heavyweight champion in professional wrestling." She sat back, raising an eyebrow, "see where I'm going here?"
She shook her head, smiling, "you know, it's funny. I'm done with that place, yet I still have friends there, otherwise, I never would have known about her. Someone who... quite frankly, I will never even bother learning her name. Because she isn't worthy of being known. All she is going to do is run her mouth, because I can guarantee you that this is literally all that she is. She is most likely unable to back that mouth up in the ring." She paused, wetting her lips, "it's really sort of just fact that people who claim to be 'woke' are actually the most closed-minded. They shout it from the mountaintops, only to be the most negative and judgemental. I blame the internet, honestly. Granted yes, I will admit that it is a little hypocritical of me to say that, seeing as how you are watching this on YouTube. But where else was I going to air it? That's just simply the way things work now," she wasn't about to pretend that things were anything except for what they actually were. That would just be counterproductive.
"So what does the future hold for Shelley Silver?" she took a deep breath, letting out a huge sigh before laughing. "I've been looking at some scripts, been to a few auditions, even a callback or two." She smiled, "but that's not what we're here for, is it? With the announcement that Dominion Pro Wrestling is happening, everyone wants to know if Shelley Silver is going to be a part of it. Well, am I?" she smirked, shrugging. "I guess time will tell, Raindrops. We'll be in touch," she winked and blew a kiss at the camera before the video abruptly ended.
